Located in south-central Indiana, Bloomington High Schools North and South regularly compete in sports and academics but the orchestra students from these two schools perform, work and play together in the Hoosier Youth Philharmonic.
President - We are looking for a new president! - coordinate with the directors, run the Boosters meetings, and organize parent volunteers
String Spectacular Refreshment Chair (concert) — Organize post-event refreshments (typically cookies and beverages donated and dropped off by HYP members) for the largest concert of the year; communicate specific needs to families ahead of time; arrange for refreshment distribution at the event; track donations so that HYP students can receive merits.
Holiday Concert Baked Goods/ Cider Chair — Solicit baked good donations, and organize volunteers to distribute baked goods after the Holiday Concert.
Chair positions come with 4 merits towards student trips as well as the potential to serve as a chaperone when needed (at the discretion of the directors).
3:30-5:15 pm
Joint rehearsal for the community dance night and fundraiser Night of Dance. More instructions will be provided in class.
Students are responsible for transportation to BHS North after school.
7:00-10:00 pm
Community members dance and listen to music that HYP plays! Families, students, and alums buy tickets from HYP members in advance or at the door. Families find additional opportunities to support HYP by donating baked goods and volunteering.
